The Residence Ca' Foscolo is a little-known gem in a great location: It's a building of serviced apartments on the Campo della Fava, a small square next to a canal that is within easy walking distance of the Rialto Bridge and the Piazza San Marco.

All nine one- and two-bedroom apartments are cleaned and supplied with breakfast items daily. Wi-Fi is free.

How to reach Residence Ca' Foscolo from the Alilaguna Linea Arancio airport-boat pier at Rialto:

1. As you leave the boat pier, turn left. Cross the small bridge just ahead of you and walk through the arcaded passage until you see a Nicla clothing store.

2. Turn right into the Calle Larga Mazzini and walk straight ahead to the Campo del San Salvador, which has a memorial column in the street.

3. Turn left onto the Via 2 Aprile and walk a short distance to the Calle dei Stagneri o della Fava.

4. Turn right into the Calle dei Stagneri o della Fava and walk to the next bridge.

5. Cross the bridge into a small waterside square, the Campo della Fava. Ca' Foscolo's entrance will be on your right, across from the Hotel Ai Reali in a building next to the canal. (Look for a small sign on the door.)
